Weight and cost totals update as items go into the pack.

The problem it solves

Hikers plan the same trip twice: once choosing the gear, and once retyping it. Most people track a pack in a spreadsheet or a web page that starts from scratch every time, so the weight of a tent gets looked up again each season and nothing remembers what was actually carried last summer.

Hikt treats gear as a database instead of a document. Every item you own is entered once, with its weight, price and category, and then reused in every list you build after that. Base weight, total weight and cost are a consequence of the list rather than something you maintain by hand.

What it does

  • A persistent gear library that carries across every trip, not per-list copies.
  • Base weight, total weight and cost totals that recalculate as you pack.
  • Offline access on iOS and Android, so the list is readable on the trail.
  • Import from a LighterPack share link, a PackLight list, a Google Sheet or a CSV in about a minute, leaving the original untouched.
  • Kits and folders for gear that always travels together.
  • On Premium: unlimited lists, real-time collaboration with up to five people, and gear recommendations with price ranges.

Who it is for

Backpackers and thru-hikers who care about base weight, weekend hikers who are tired of forgetting the same item, and anyone moving off a spreadsheet or off LighterPack who wants the list in their pocket instead of in a browser tab.

How it is built

Hikt is one React Native and Expo codebase serving native iOS, native Android and the web, with Firebase behind it for sync, authentication and the collaborative lists. Data is written locally first so the app stays usable with no signal, and reconciles when a connection comes back.

The app is translated into nine languages. Support and documentation live on hikt.app.
